Friday testing...

We enjoyed measuring how much moisture the dehumidifier had collected. It had 600ml of water. We added up the total of how much water it collected during the week, a grand total of 3600 ml which is the same as 3.6 L.

Thursday testing...

Thursday we collected only 500ml. This has been the lowest amount for the week so far. We talked about the changes in weather outside and how this may have influenced the amount of moisture in the air.

Room 2 gets a dehumidifier.

This week Mr Mitchell brought his dehumidifier in for us to have a look at.
de·hu·mid·i·fi·er
An electrical appliance for removing excess humidity from the air in a room or building.

We turned it on at 9am and emptied it at 3pm. These were our results...
MONDAY - 650ml of H2o
TUESDAY- 900 ml of H2o
WEDNESDAY- 950 ml of H2o
THURSDAY- 500 ml of H2o
FRIDAY- 600 ml of H2o

We discussed how the air felt dry and made us a bit thirsty. We also noticed that our windows did not fog up like the other classes.

The Howling Wind.

Wind howling in the dark night.

Wind causing trees to fall over, houses holding on tight to their roofs.

Wind making plastic bags and newspapers fly up the streets.

Wind making mess and causing havoc.

Wind dies down, the clean up begins....

Weather art using chalk.

This was a fun activity to start our Weather topic. We had to draw different types of weather. We used chalk to draw our pictures and colour them in. Some people drew rain, hail, lightning, tornadoes, clouds, tsunamis, snow, sun, and wind. Our art work stayed there for 3 days until the rain started.

THUNDERSTORM

Thunder strikes,
bursting ears,
chilled by the cold, cold snow,
the sun tries to escape from the black clouds with no luck,
wind screaming through the woods frightening small animals,
a gun shot echoes through the woods,
thunder claps like a million bombs going off,
suddenly it starts bucketing down... rain.

The sun is partly out of the clouds now, the snow starts melting away.
When i get home mum makes me a hot chocolate... YUM!

Museum Visit

This was a fun trip to learn about 'Climate Change'. We looked at animals that lived on earth millions of years ago.
We also did a treasure hunt around the whole museum. This was fun
and we got to explore parts of the museum some of us have not seen.

Songbong

Songbong were a small group who made music using African drums and sticks. The were very loud and you could hear them echoing around school. After they had finished they let us have a go on the drums. This was fun.
